Hi! I'm Tay!

I have been a Type One Diabetic for 18 years. My walk with diabetes has been anything but easy; getting diagnosed in 2007, when I was in seventh grade, my whole life changed in a single visit to the doctor. From the day I was diagnosed, I struggled. The finger pokes, shots, nurse-visits, high and low blood sugars and my eating disorder were all new to me then. As the years went on, I would find myself in and out of the hospital throughout the year; always wanting to be better, but never knowing how to get better. Fast-forward to today- I’m finally at a place where I can start put these pieces together and understand why it was such a struggle for me. That’s what I’m doing here and what I intend to keep doing in the future.

The Diabetic Perspective is a community where I share my personal stories, educational resources, and insights into this complex disease. I have made so many mistakes along the way, none of which I regret because now I get to share those stories with you and hopefully you don’t have to walk down the same painful path as I did.
